| Hi! My name is Michelle Anthony, Chairperson, for the Strike It For Deaf Kids! Bowlathon. This year’s event will be held on April 18, 2009 at Beaver Vu Lanes in Beavercreek. The purpose for the Bowlathon is to help Deaf Kids and Teens Club and KODA (Kids of Deaf Adults). This fundraiser will help with the supplies and crafts for our camps, monthly activities. Deaf and Hard of Hearing children do not often have the chance to experience the same kind of recreational and developmental opportunities that hearing children do. Language and cultural barriers make it diffcult for them to benefit from a camp where the staff are hearing and/or do not use American Sign Language. There are no other camps in the Dayton area that are focused on serving these children. Being with other children who are just like them gives them the opportunity to socialize, learn, and develop leadership qualities that will benefit their future in both the Deaf and Hearing Communities.
